the park is on PA route 305, a 15 minute drive west of Belleville,
PA or a 40 minute drive southeast of State College. Recreation

Riding, Winter Sports including ice skating and snowmobiling.
Family Camping facilities include 50 forested tent and trailer
campsites open from the second Friday in April until the end
of anterless deer hunting season in late December. Many areas
of the park are wheel chair accessible.

Fly Fishing Centre County is blessed with 37 trout streams.
You can fish a different stream every day for a month and
not fish the same stream twice. When you factor in the nearby
waters in other counties, the angling possibilities are extremely
diverse and interesting.
Penn Roosevelt State Park

Can be reached easily from U.S. Route 322 one half mile east
of Potters Mills (where 322 changes from 2 to 4 lanes) turn
south onto Crowfield Road (six miles to park) or further east,
turn south, (near the runaway truck ramp) onto Stone Creek
Road (also six miles to park). Penn Roosevelt can also be
reached from Greenwood Furnace State Park. Turn onto Black
Lick Road at the park office. Follow the Penn Roosevelt signs
(12 miles to the park). Picnicking, Hiking, Horseback Riding,
Fishing, Cross Country skiing, snowmobiling, and camping.
15 primitive campsites, some walk-in, are available for tents
only.

is easily reached by turning east off PA Route 26 at the Whipple
Dam State Park sign. A variety of recreational opportunities

Colerain Road - From
State College take state Route 45 west to Spruce Creek. Before
reaching the town of Spruce Creek look for Colerain Rd. on
the left. Follow Colerain Rd. to Brady, Kepler, state Route
26 and return to state Route 45 at Pine Grove Mills.
Crownover Trail -
From State College follow West College Ave. (state Route 26)
to Pine Grove Mills and continue over the mountain. Harry's
Valley Road is the first dirt road on the right as you descend
state Route 26. Be careful: It's at the first sharp turn and
it's a dangerous intersection. Follow Harry's Valley Rd. for
1.9 miles and look for the wooden signpost on the right that
says Crownover Trail. The signpost is an upright 4 by 4 post;
not a large painted sign. It can be easy to miss so watch
your odometer. You can park a short distance past it on the
left.
Fall Foliage Drive
Take Rt 322 to Tussey Mt Ski Area. Follow Bear Meadows Road
into Rothrock State Forest then onto Laurel Run Road to top
of mountain. Follow Laurel Run Road 12 miles to Whipple Dam
State Park and Rt 26
Greenlee Mountain
- from State College take state Route 26 South and head for
Whipple Dam State Park. Before entering the park you'll reach
a dirt road. Turn right going away from Whipple Dam. This
is Greenlee Road. Stay on it for seven miles until you reach
a T-intersection with Laurel Run Road; turn left and return
to Whipple Dam.
John Wert Path From
S.C. take Rt 322 E to Tussey Mountain Ski Area. Follow Bear
Meadows Road for 3 miles, park at the stone monument on the
right. the path is posted on the left after crossing the bridge.
Little Flat Lookout Tower
- From S.C. take state Rte. 322 E. to Tussey Mountain Ski
area Bear Meadows Rd. to first intersection. Turn right onto
Laurel Run Rd. (dirt) and continue to the top of the mountain.
As you descend the other side, a grated road is on the left.
Park here and follow the road (one mile) to the tower. Return
the same way.
Little Shingletown Road
Trail - From S.C. take state Rte. 322 E. to Tussey Mountain
Ski area Bear Meadows Rd. to first intersection. Turn right
onto Laurel Run Rd. (dirt) and continue to the top of the
mountain. A yellow gate on the right marks Little Shingletown
Road trail.
Lower Trail On warm
days, try biking this rails to trails bike path which follows
the Juniata River. If you are interested, call Rails to Trails
of Central Pa at (814)832-2400 for more information.
Mid-State Trail -
Take U.S. Route 322 East to Tussey Mountain ski area. After
entering State Forest land continue on Bear Meadows Rd. to
North Bear Meadows Rd. Follow to the top of the ridge where
it meets Gettis Ridge Rd. Park here and look for the Mid-State
Trail signpost.
Midstate Trail West
- From State College, follow West College Ave. (state Route
26) to Pine Grove Mills and continue over the mountain. Harry's
Valley Rd. is the first dirt road on the right as you descend
state Route 26. Be careful: It's a dangerous intersection.

Pine Swamp Road -
From State College take route 26 South to Whipple Dam State
Park. Drive past Whipple Dam (do not cross the water). The
paved road will meet the dirt road (Laurel Run Road). Continue
four miles, and Pine Swamp Road will be on the left. It will
return you to state Route 26, bear right to return to State
college.

Vista, on state Route 26 above Pine Grove Mills. Then return

(dirt) is the right hand turn at the first intersection. Follow
to the top of the mountain. Begin hiking at the yellow gate
where the Mid-State Trail crosses the road.
